Your new role This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Glasgow. You will play a key role in delivering mechanical designs, technical support, and engineering solutions across a wide variety of projects, from full-scale refurbishments to highly technical, fast-paced fit-out environments. The role is predominantly office-based with occasional site visits as required.
Main Responsibilities: Producing detailed mechanical building services designs across HVAC, hot & cold water, public health, and associated systems. Carrying out load calculations, sizing, and equipment selection using industry-standard software and internal design tools. Preparing technical drawings, schematics, and layout information in collaboration with in-house design teams. Liaising with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure seamless delivery of design intent. Conducting site surveys to assess existing installations, identify constraints, and support accurate design development. Reviewing and interpreting project specifications, client briefs, and regulatory requirements. Supporting tender submissions with technical input and mechanical design information where required. Ensuring design compliance with building regulations, industry standards, and best-practice guidelines. Providing engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, including addressing queries during installation stages.
What you'll need to succeed Proven experience in mechanical building services engineering within consultancy, contractor, or design & build environments. Strong understanding of HVAC, public health systems, and mechanical services design principles. Proficiency with design software (e.g., Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD or similar). Excellent technical knowledge, with the ability to produce accurate calculations, specifications, and design documents. Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project team. Full right to work in the UK.
