Job Description
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team within the defence industry. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects, developing robust mechanical solutions for demanding environments.
You will be involved throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through to manufacture and integration, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities as the Senior Mechanical Engineer;
Mechanical design and development of components and assemblies using CAD tools Designing for manufacture, including consideration of machining, welding, and fabrication processes Supporting thermal simulation and thermal modelling activities Managing design data and documentation using PDM systems Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including electronics and manufacturing engineers Supporting prototype build, testing, and design iteration
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience using a CAD package, preferably SolidWorks, though alternatives such as CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD will also be considered Strong background in CAD design, manufacturing processes, and Design for Manufacture (DFM) Experience designing components for welding and fabrication Exposure to thermal simulation or thermal modelling Experience using, or a basic understanding of, PDM (Product Data Management) systems Experience designing for integration with electronics and PCBs Experience with additive manufacturing
