Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Role: Electro-mechanical Systems

Location: Cambridgeshire

Salary: £45k-£65k


Platform Recruitment has partnered with a manufacturer that designs and develops complex hardware with applications in precision automation, electro-mechanical systems, and advanced manufacturing, from early-stage R&D through to full production. You’ll be joining a talented, multidisciplinary team working at the cutting edge of innovation, delivering robust mechanical solutions that integrate seamlessly into larger, system-level platforms.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & deliver complex mechanical subsystems within integrated platforms
  • Full product lifecycle development – concept generation, detailed design & design for manufacture
  • Conduct hands-on prototyping & testing
  • Work in a highly skilled multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Project leadership – lead projects, mentor & technically guide engineers

Key Requirements:

  • Background in developing electro-mechanical systems, machinery or robotics
  • Strong 3D CAD skills
  • Proven experience in developing new products & precision mechanisms
  • Knowledge of a range of manufacturing techniques
  • Hands on and practical skills – prototyping & testing
  • Demonstrable project leadership experience
