Job Role: Mechanical Design Engineer Salary / Rate: £45-£50 /hour Outside IR35 Location: Greater Manchester (Hybrid working) Our client is a reputable Design & Build Contractor looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to help support the Detailed Design phase of multiple MEICA projects on major UK water frameworks.
About the Role:
Provide mechanical design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements Produce mechanical design calculations and general arrangement drawings for the UK water industry Direct and support CAD technicians and junior designers Prepare scopes of work for and check the output of subcontract M&E design teams Liaise with suppliers, prepare mechanical equipment specifications (e.g., pumps, pipework, valves), and review technical submissions Conduct design investigations and produce technical reports and mechanical specifications Ensure design work is compliant with WRAS, WIMES, and other industry technical standards Implement and record any design changes through the project lifecycle Estimate hours and resources required for mechanical design packages Attend and present at meetings and design reviews as required
