Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and drivenSenior Mechanical Design Engineerto join our client's Manchester office.In this role, you will provide expert design consultancy across a range of building services projects, taking ownership of allocated schemes from concept through to completion. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and quality standards.What Youll Be DoingTaking ownership of client relationships and clearly defining project scope.Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver designs aligned with agreed scope, internal quality procedures, industry best practice, health & safety standards, and client requirements.Managing and overseeing the preparation of mechanical working designs for building services.Producing and delivering specifications, drawings, calculations, schematics, layouts, reports, and design notes to agreed timescales.Monitoring project progress and managing design variations throughout the lifecycle.Carrying out site surveys, investigations, and research to inform design development.Preparing calculations to support equipment selection and system performance.Promoting sustainable and low-carbon design solutions across all projects.Presenting designs for Quality Assurance review.Supporting, mentoring, and overseeing junior engineers.Identifying Health & Safety and CDM considerations in both design and site operations.Keeping up to date with industry trends, standards, and emerging technologies.Identifying new tools, techniques, and innovations to enhance technical standards and profitability.Supporting business development activities and promoting the company to clients and professional partners.Were looking for someone with strong experience in:Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and their impact on building services designBritish Standards, Building Regulations, and sector-specific guidanceHealth & Safety in design and operations, including CDM regulationsMechanical ventilation and air conditioning systemsHeating and cooling servicesDomestic hot and cold water systemsFoul, waste, and rainwater drainage systemsDynamic simulation software such as IES (or similar)Acoustic design requirements relating to mechanical and electrical plantDrafting software including Revit and AutoCADSustainable and low-carbon design principlesWorking collaboratively within multidisciplinary design teamsMicrosoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)QualificationsDegree or Higher National Qualification in a Building Services-related disciplineMinimum of 5 years industry experienceWorking towards Chartership (desirable)This is a genuine opportunity to join a collaborative, motivated, and forward-thinking consultancy.
