Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

New Today

Job Description

Most “design engineer” roles are CAD-heavy.

This one isn’t.

You’re designing mechanical systems that have to survive extreme environments. Failure isn’t an option.

Which means the engineering has to be right.

The work is genuinely technical. You’ll be expected to think, not just model.

Day to day, that looks like:

  • End-to-end mechanical design of complex assemblies
  • FEA for stress, thermal and vibration validation
  • Designing for high-pressure / high-temperature conditions
  • Working closely with electronics and software teams
  • Getting involved in build, test and iteration
  • Driving design for manufacture with suppliers

This isn’t a hand-off environment. You’ll own problems properly.

What they actually need:

  • Strong mechanical design background (not just CAD)
  • Solid FEA experience (ANSYS / SolidWorks or similar)
  • Good understanding of materials, stress and thermal behaviour
  • Experience designing products that have to work in the real world
  • Comfortable working across design, test and manufacturing

This suits someone who’s getting a bit frustrated with safe projects or limited ownership.

If you want more technical depth, more responsibility, and fewer layers between you and the engineering decisions, it’s worth a conversation.
