Job Description

Are you looking for a maintenance-focused engineering role where your expertise makes a real difference to public buildings? \n \nDo you enjoy diagnosing mechanical failures and getting to the root cause of problems? \n \nCarrington West are working with Derby City Council to find a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Reactive Maintenance) on an initial 6-month contract.

\nThis role is firmly focused on reactive maintenance and fault diagnosis, supporting council-owned buildings across Derby, including schools. You'll act as the technical lead when systems fail, identifying causes, specifying remedial works and ensuring safe, compliant outcomes. \n \nThe role \n·Diagnose mechanical and heating system failures across council buildings \n·Attend site, investigate faults and produce clear defect and condition reports \n·Raise and manage work orders via the maintenance portal \n·Provide mechanical and heating design input where required \n·Supervise contractors and inspect works for quality and compliance \n·Advise schools and stakeholders on maintenance priorities \n·Ensure compliance with health & safety and energy efficiency standards \nYou'll be site-based in Derby around 3 days per week.
