Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer

Location: Birmingham or Nottingham, UK

A leading international engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join its established Building Engineering team in the Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary environment on a wide range of technically complex and high-profile projects across sectors including infrastructure, science and technology, healthcare, education, and sustainable residential developments.

The Role

You will lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems across multiple projects, taking responsibility for technical quality, coordination, and successful project outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing mechanical design strategies and system solutions
• Leading thermal comfort and building performance analysis
• Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
• Managing the production of drawings, models, reports, and specifications
• Supporting project delivery to agreed budgets and timelines
• Mentoring and supporting junior engineers

About You

• Chartered Engineer (IMechE or CIBSE), or close to achieving chartership
• Strong experience in building services design across multiple sectors
• Proven ability to deliver complex projects
• Experience with sustainable design principles and energy modelling tools (e.g. IES)
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Commercial awareness, including budgeting and resource planning

Experience within science, industry, technology, or rail projects would be advantageous.
