We are thrilled to be able to advertise for a Band 6 Medicines Management Technician (MMT) to support our growing General Medicines and Surgery team.

The role will be supporting to develop and deliver a comprehensive medicines management service while working with a strong multidisciplinary team.
Excellent leadership and management skills are required to plan and support the MMT team and identify new and innovative roles to maximise the potential of the Pharmacy workforce.
This role requires a Pharmacy Technician who can take responsibility and accountability for the Pharmacy MMT team within General Medicines and Surgery team and potentially wider in the department.
Main duties of the job
This role will include defining the MMT service with clear measurable metrics, managing the day-to-day service alongside the Directorate Lead Pharmacist team, managing and developing SOPs and guidelines and supporting the education and training requirements of the MMT team.
This role includes regular patient facing ward based MMT commitments, these duties include:
Assessing patient's own medicines.
Electronic ordering of medicines.
Confirming complex medication histories with patients.
Counselling patients about new medicines.
Liaising with clinical pharmacists, multidisciplinary team (MDT) members, and primary care colleagues.
Assisting ward staff in the safe use of medicines.
Ward controlled drug checks and returns.

Person Specification
Combined Values
NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services with underpinning knowledge provided by the BTEC Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or other recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification meeting requirements for registration with the GPhC
Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Mandatory CPD/ Revalidation activities as required by the GPhC
Accreditation in Medicines Management (AIMM) or HEE Medicines Optimisation Programme (MOP) qualification
Experience/Knowledge
Experience of hospital pharmacy and working in a ward-based medicines management role
Experience of training and supervising staff
Experience of audit and research work
Experience of counselling patients and their carers on medicines
Experience of writing SOP's or guidelines
Experience in working with EPIC EPR System
Skills/Abilities
Be able to provide and receive complex information on medicines use both on the wards and within the dispensary
Be able to communicate effectively and accurately in both verbal and written formats with staff, patients and their carers
Track record of successfully working within teams
Able to manage time and outcomes effectively
Be able to meet deadlines
Methodical and ability to dispense accurately
