The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior NPD Technologist to lead the day-to-day running of the NPD function. This role will manage the full product development lifecycle from concept through to launch, ensuring all products are safe, compliant, and aligned with customer expectations.

You will also play a key role in improving manufacturing processes and building strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage and develop the R&D and Specification Technologists

* Oversee production documentation, labelling processes, and artwork approval

* Develop and adapt recipes to meet factory and customer requirements

* Support the Head of NPD and deputise when required

* Lead product development projects, including customer presentations

* Write product specifications and maintain technical documentation

* Coordinate trials, first productions, and cross-functional collaboration

* Review production data to drive continuous improvement

* Attend customer and supplier meetings and support ongoing projects

* Assist with supplier approval and raw material processes

* Ensure compliance with BRC standards, HACCP, and current legislation

Health, Safety & Quality

* Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with PPE, COSHH, and risk assessment procedures

* Maintain high standards of hygiene, traceability, and food safety compliance

* Actively contribute to HACCP processes and site quality standards

Skills & Experience

* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a product development role within food manufacturing

* Level 4 HACCP and Level 4 Food Safety qualifications

* Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, BRC, and food safety regulations

* Experience working with retailers and/or branded products

* Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines

* Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across all levels

* Experience using specification systems and technical documentation software
