Job Description

Senior Occupational Therapist

£36.00 per hour | | London Borough of Hackney

Hackney is transforming the way we deliver Occupational Therapy — and we need passionate, experienced practitioners to help drive that change. If you’re a Senior OT who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, is committed to high‑quality practice, and wants to make an immediate impact for residents, this is the perfect opportunity.

Why We Need You

Hackney’s OT service is facing unprecedented demand. We are expanding our team to increase capacity, reduce delays, and deliver timely, strengths‑based and person‑centred practice.

Be Part of Hackney’s Reablement Expansion

The long‑term goal? A Reablement First approach where reablement is considered for most adults requiring support. You will help embed this vision as our service grows into community‑based referrals.

About the Role

As a Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening our service. You will:

  • Hold and manage a small caseload of complex and challenging cases
  • Provide clinical leadership, mentoring and supervision to OTs, apprentices and students
  • Lead high‑quality, analytical assessments and evidence‑based interventions
  • Drive professional standards, innovation and continuous improvement in practice
  • Represent OT within multi‑agency forums and contribute to strategic development
  • Oversee safeguarding investigations as a Safeguarding Adults Manager
  • Ensure compliance with the Care Act 2014, MCA, safeguarding guidance and local frameworks
  • Champion strengths‑based, personalised, independence‑focused practice

You will be joining a motivated service committed to raising standards, improving outcomes and redesigning pathways to benefit Hackney residents.

What We’re Looking For:

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • 3+ years’ post‑qualification OT experience in Adult Services
  • Strong knowledge of the Care Act, MCA, Safeguarding, and major adaptations
  • Experience supporting and developing others — mentoring, supervision, shadowing
  • Confidence managing complex cases and clinical risk
  • Skilled communication, decision‑making and leadership abilities
  • HCPC registration & RCOT membership

Why Join Hackney?

  • A supportive, forward‑thinking team with strong leadership
  • Opportunities to develop reablement pathways and influence service design
  • A chance to make immediate, meaningful impact for residents
  • Commitment to diversity, collaboration and professional growth

Hackney is a borough that values innovation, compassion and high‑quality care. Join us and help shape a stronger, more responsive OT service.
