Overview

The Senior Optical Design Engineer will play a vital role in new product innovation, technical support, and manufacturing improvements, with the chance to help shape the future of vision care.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, prototype and test intraocular lenses
• Lead cross-departmental project teams from concept to manufacturing
• Support production teams with new processes and troubleshooting
• Evaluate and enhance current products, processes, and systems
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians
• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through training and research

Requirements

Essential:

• MSc or PhD in a relevant science or engineering field
• 5+ years of experience designing intraocular lenses
• Proficiency in Zemax (5+ years) and MATLAB (5+ years)
• Experience developing diffractive optical systems
• Strong project collaboration and autonomous working skills

Desirable:

• Understanding of optometry data and patient biometry
• Familiarity with medical device regulations (e.g. ISO13485, FDA QSR 21 CFR 820)
