Location: Saffron Walden (CB10) Duration: Permanent Hours: 9am - 5:30pm (Monday to Friday) Salary: £40-45k DoE Job Reference: 36124 Polytec are seeking an experienced Senior PCB Design Engineer for our client based just outside Saffron Walden. You will lead the delivery of complex PCB designs across RF, digital and mixed-technology domains. This position is ideal for someone with a proven track record of high-quality PCB design who thrives in a fast-moving, technically challenging environment. You'll work alongside specialists spanning DC through to mmWave frequencies, as well as high-performance FPGA and digital systems. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role where attention to detail and the ability to bring designs through to completion are essential. Reporting to the Director of Hardware, you will play a key role in strengthening the hardware development capability. Please note this role is subject to UK eyes only Security Clearance. Responsibilities: - Lead and refine PCB design processes, from component libraries through to fully realised layouts - Collaborate closely with engineers to translate schematics into fully functional PCB assemblies - Deliver designs to agreed timelines, specifications, and quality standards in line with ISO9001 procedures - Conduct and contribute to internal and customer-facing design reviews, presenting work clearly and confidently - Champion PCB design best practices and maintain high professional standards - Drive continuous improvement in design efficiency and overall delivery quality Requirements: - HNC/HND or degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) - Minimum of 5 years' experience in electronics hardware design and product development, with a focus on PCB design - Strong portfolio of completed PCB design projects - Strong expertise in PCB design across RF, digital, analogue and power applications - Proven ability to complete designs thoroughly, meeting deadlines without compromise - Advanced understanding of constraint management, including net classes, pin pairs and length matching (Xnets) - Experience with HDI technologies such as microvias, stacked vias, via-in-pad, and back drilling, including multi-layer controlled impedance RF designs up to mmWave frequencies - High proficiency with PCB design tools%3B experience with Altium is essential - Familiarity with Siemens PADS for legacy designs is beneficial - Solid understanding of SMT, Design for Manufacture (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles - Knowledge of IPC standards and EMI/EMC best practices for high-reliability designs - Experience working collaboratively with mechanical engineering teams - Problem-solving mindset with the ability to support cross-disciplinary engineering challenges - Self-motivated, organised and comfortable working under pressure Please contact us as soon as possible for more details or apply below
