Senior Planner - 12 Month FTC

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000


Alexander Steele are delighted to be partnering with a well-established FMCG business to recruit a Senior Planner to join their Supply Chain team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.


Job Purpose

The Senior Planner is responsible for creating and maintaining production plans that meet customer demand while supporting operational best practice. This role also oversees the day-to-day activities of the production scheduling team to ensure planning is efficient, accurate, and aligned with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvements across production scheduling systems and processes.
  • Work collaboratively with Demand and Supply teams to align with the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and communicate deviations where required.
  • Identify supply constraints and work closely with Supply Planning to resolve issues.
  • Partner with Manufacturing teams to enhance site efficiency and productivity.
  • Provide accurate labour plans and support effective deployment of labour on site.
  • Manage Finished Goods master data from product set-up through to delist, ensuring accuracy.
  • Participate in daily site meetings, delivering updates on KPIs, scheduling activity, and operational impacts.
  • Manage on-site and off-site finished goods inventory, with focus on low-life stock risks.
  • Support planning and delivery of seasonal production campaigns.
  • Anticipate and mitigate short-term supply chain risks.
  • Mentor, support, and develop a small planning team.
  • Ensure all planning and scheduling activities meet safety and quality standards.
  • Creating and managing production schedules to meet customer demand and business goals.
  • Providing data insights on yield, efficiency, and planning metrics.
  • Communicating effectively across departments to ensure alignment.


Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes, ideally within FMCG manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in production planning and scheduling roles.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • High attention to detail with commitment to maintaining data accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
