LOCATION: London/Salford - hybrid. There will be some travel involved between these sites
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £43,000-49,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Insight team plays a pivotal role at BBC Children in Need, supporting teams across the charity by leveraging insight to both shape and evaluate our funding, storytelling, communications and fundraising activity.
As 'Senior Planner - Children & Families', you'll play an important strategic role in the charity, strengthening our insight into issues affecting children and young people and the role we play in delivering change, and leveraging that insight in a way that enables us to maximise our impact for children and young people over time.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- To lead the development and interpretation of insight to shape our strategy and priorities for change for children and young people.
- To lead the ongoing development of our insight into children and young people's needs (current and emerging) and leverage this across teams to build internal expertise and drive action).
- To lead the development of thematic research and analysis relating to the needs of children and young people, leveraging the resultant insight to build expertise and drive action.
- To partner with colleagues to ensure our external communication and influencing activity is insight-informed and aligned with our strategy and positioning as a funder.
- To leverage our strategic priorities and supporting insight to shape partnership development opportunities.
- To advise on impact-related communications activity - championing our framing, language and funding position - and ensuring that resources are up to date and accessible for colleagues.
- To provide insight to support policy and influencing work - collaborating to develop our position, ensuring priorities and decisions are informed by insight and identifying issues requiring deeper review.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Experience of working in the children and young people's sector in a research capacity, with an understanding of the issues impacting their lives.
- A demonstrable interest in and understanding of the children and young people's public policy environment across the UK.
- Strong analytical skills, able to absorb and distil insight from a range of sources into clear, impactful and actionable stories and briefings.
- The ability to think strategically about how we deliver change for children and young people, and how insight can add value to our decision making and activity both internally and externally.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, as a credible voice with the ability to tell compelling stories and present well-reasoned arguments.
