Job Description
Senior Planner – Rail & Civil Engineering\n\nLocation: Manchester (Hybrid working available)\n\nSalary: £65-75,000 per annum plus additional benefits\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Planner with a strong background in civil engineering, ideally within rail infrastructure projects, to join our growing team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful planning and delivery of complex, high-profile rail projects across the UK.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Senior Planner, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project programmes, ensuring effective control of time, resources, and risk throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to provide accurate planning insight and support informed decision-making.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Develop and manage detailed project programmes using industry-standard planning software (e.g.
Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject).\n\n * \n\n Produce baseline, progress, and forecast programmes for rail and civil engineering works.\n\n * \n\n Carry out critical path analysis, progress updates, and reporting.\n\n * \n\n Identify programme risks and opportunities, supporting mitigation and recovery planning.\n\n * \n\n Support tender planning, change control, and claims where required.\n\n * \n\n Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to ensure programme alignment.\n\nAbout You\n\n * \n\n Proven experience in a planning role within civil engineering, ideally rail infrastructure projects.\n\n * \n\n Strong working knowledge of planning methodologies and best practice.\n\n * \n\n Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject.\n\n * \n\n Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.\n\n * \n\n Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.\n\n * \n\n Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n * \n\n £65-75,000 per annum\n\n * \n\n Company vehicle or allowance\n\n * \n\n Generous annual bonus structure\n\n * \n\n Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.\n\n * \n\n Opportunities for career progression and professional development.\n\n * \n\n The chance to work on major rail and infrastructure projects that make a real impact.\n\nIf you are a motivated Senior Planner looking to take the next step in your career within a dynamic and supportive environment, we would love to hear from you
