Senior Planning Manager – Technology Portfolio – Contract | London (Hybrid) | 6 Months | £450 – £520 per day (Umbrella)


Working Pattern: London hybrid working with a minimum of 50% office attendance at London, plus site visits

Contract Length: 6 months initially, with a strong likelihood of extension


About You

To be suitable for this Senior Planning Manager – Technology Portfolio contract, you will bring:

  • Senior‑level experience planning large, complex Technology or Systems programmes at portfolio or multi‑programme level
  • Expert Microsoft Project capability, including master schedules, dependencies, and critical path analysis
  • Proven experience delivering planning assurance, QSRA / Monte Carlo analysis, and supplier schedule challenge
  • Confidence managing complex interdependencies across multiple projects and suppliers
  • Experience operating within agile or hybrid delivery environments
  • Strong capability producing executive‑level dashboards, reports, and portfolio insights
  • Experience defining or improving planning processes within a multi‑functional PMO
  • Credibility working directly with C‑suite and senior executive stakeholders, particularly during early programme stages
  • Previous responsibility for leading, coordinating, or line‑managing other planners


Responsibilities

You will provide senior planning leadership across a complex Technology Portfolio, supporting multiple projects and suppliers to ensure robust, credible, and integrated planning.

The role involves owning and assuring portfolio‑level schedules, managing high‑volume and complex interdependencies, supporting scenario planning, and ensuring senior decision‑makers have clear visibility of risks, critical paths, and delivery impacts. You will lead QSRA activity, challenge supplier‑provided schedules, and provide clear, data‑led insight through dashboards and reporting aligned to business reporting cycles.

You will also manage and coordinate the work of two planners currently supporting the programme, driving consistency, quality, and best practice across the wider planning function.
