Senior Planning Manager - Construction/Consultancy

Location: Derby


An opportunity has arisen with a leading global construction and consultancy business, renowned for delivering high-profile projects across the built environment. With a strong presence in major developments spanning commercial, residential, infrastructure and mixed-use schemes, this organisation is known for its integrated approach to programme management, project controls and sustainable delivery.


We are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Manager to take ownership of planning and schedule management across complex building projects within the built environment sector. You’ll play a critical role in shaping project success—leading programme strategy, influencing stakeholders and ensuring delivery is efficient, controlled and commercially robust.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead planning and scheduling across live projects and tenders
  • Develop and manage integrated project programmes using industry-standard tools
  • Apply project controls methodologies, including Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Provide clear programme analysis, insights and recovery strategies to stakeholders
  • Work closely with Project Directors, Project Managers and clients to drive performance
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of planners
  • Support net zero objectives through proactive carbon planning and management


About You:

  • Strong planning experience within construction and property sectors
  • Advanced knowledge of planning software and project controls principles
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring planning professionals
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent experience)
