About The Energy Unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients worldwide across sectors such as hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation, and transmission & distribution networks. We provide integrated engineering and project management services across the lifecycle – from concept and design to construction, operations, decommissioning, or repowering and life extension.
About The Role
Our Energy Networks team seeks a Principal Project Manager to lead energy infrastructure design and advisory projects. The role supports UK and European decarbonisation projects, enhances project management processes, and improves delivery excellence and efficiency.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
Deliver project management for complex transmission & distribution projects, including feasibility, FEED, and detailed design.
Deliver project scope, time, quality, and cost.
Build and manage strong relationships with senior client representatives and internal stakeholders.
Establish effective communication across multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
Lead problem solving and decision making.
Control internal and external commercial aspects under contract arrangements.
Manage risk to the business and the client.
Work effectively on multiple projects concurrently to meet tight deadlines.
Candidate Specification
Relevant engineering or project management degree or proven experience in energy sector project management.
Proven success delivering transmission or distribution design projects for designers, contractors, or major industry clients.
Project management experience and multidisciplinary team leadership.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience in contract administration, ideally NEC contract forms.
Knowledge of change management, risk management, schedule, and cost management.
Strong decision making, adherence to policies and procedures, and ownership of actions.
Promote a work environment focused on health, safety, and wellbeing.
Previous experience in electrical infrastructure projects such as Owner’s Engineer or Lender’s Engineer.
Experience of CDM 2015 Regulations.
Appreciation of the commercial aspects of project work, including contract terms.
Ability to adapt and manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
Collaborative skills to work with cross‑functional teams from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred But Not Essential
Experience within the transmission and distribution sector.
Experience across all stages of the project lifecycle.
PM qualifications (e.g., PMQ, Prince2).
