Senior / Principal Process Safety Engineer\n Location: Edinburgh, (Hybrid working)\n\nRole Overview\n\nA leading engineering consultant operating across global markets is seeking a highly experienced Senior / Principal Process Safety Engineer to join their UK team.\n\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in delivering safe, compliant design and engineering solutions for a range of projects in high-hazard industries such as pharmaceuticals and food and other mission-critical sectors.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProvide expert process safety support across a variety of projects featuring diverse hazard types.\nContribute within multi-discipline engineering teams and also support standalone process-safety consulting services.\nPerform and lead hazard and risk assessments, reviews and safety analyses (e.g. relevant hazard studies, risk assessments, compliance reviews).\nDevelop, review and maintain process safety deliverables including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment sizing, process calculations and other design documentation.\nApply comprehensive knowledge of process safety legislation, codes of practice and standards relevant to UK and EU (and where needed, international) framework.\nProvide technical guidance, mentoring and coaching particularly for candidates who have strong fundamentals but may have gaps in some areas.\nSupport multiple projects simultaneously with effective prioritisation, while maintaining a professional, organised approach.\nFoster a safety-centred, teamwork-focused attitude; contribute to a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement.Skills & Experience Required\n\nBachelor's degree in Process / Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).\nChartered Engineer status (or working towards chartered status) is highly desirable.\nSolid understanding of both process design and process safety engineering.\nDemonstrable knowledge across a range of process safety topics (e.g. hazardous-area classification, ATEX/DSEAR, risk assessments, COMAH/major hazard regulations, hazard studies, etc.).\nStrong process design background including experience producing and working with PFDs, P&IDs, process calculations, equipment sizing and process safety deliverables.On Offer\n\n£70,000 - £90,000 depending on senior / principle level\n25 x Day Holiday Entitlement\nup to 9% Pension Contribution\nEmployee Share Option Scheme\nBonus Plan (discretionary)\nPrivate Healthcare\nLife Assurance\nProfessional Subscription\nCycle to Work\nBusiness mileage \n\nIf you believe you have the relevant expertise and drive, we'd love to hear from you.
