Senior Product Engineer
Belcan seeks an experienced Senior Product Engineer for a 12-month Inside IR35 contract in Hertfordshire. The role involves leading engineering work packages for the development, validation, and industrialisation of smart motor and power generation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions aligned with cost and weight targets.
Oversee and approve design solutions; support design reviews per client governance and product introduction processes.
Produce high-quality technical documentation, including CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and assurance reports.
Drive risk management and continuous improvement through design investigations, root cause analysis, and lessons learned.
Author, review, and approve technical documentation for engineering and through-life support.
Provide training, mentoring, and leadership to engineering personnel.
Deliver fit-for-purpose designs with a DFA/DFM approach and 'Right First Time' philosophy.
Ensure stakeholder satisfaction through clear communication and timely reporting.
Meet project milestones and budgets; maintain compliance with design assurance and procedural standards.
Achieve agreed KPIs consistently.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience delivering work packages and supervising engineering teams.
Mechanical design expertise with rotating equipment (shafts, bearings, seals, structures).
Strong understanding of engineering materials and production methods.
Proficiency in electromechanical design using 3D CAD tools (CATIA/NX) and PLM systems (Teamcentre, Windchill, SAP).
Competent in MS Office applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Desirable

Experience with high-speed power generation and motor technologies.
Basic knowledge of mechatronics and electronics.
