The project: 

Our Mobility team is growing and we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our Aviation team on a permanent basis. As Senior Project Manager you will lead the planning and design of a major programme to deliver four new serviced aircraft stands within a complex, operational aviation environment. This early‑works programme is critical in enabling future capacity, improving operational resilience, and supporting long‑term strategic infrastructure plans.

This role will require you to work on site in West London, 3 days per week, 2 days hybrid. 

The scope includes:

• Demolition of existing structures.
• Relocation and reconfiguration of airside roads and access points.
• Relocation of airport support facilities (e.g., GSE areas, ULD stillages).
• Enabling works for potential future excavation and cavern extension beneath two of the stands.
• Delivery of four new serviced stands, including one MCA stand (2x Code E or 3x Code C) and two Code F MARS stands.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams through design stages up to investment decision.
• Assess completeness of existing information and define additional work requirements.
• Refine scope and manage gateway submissions.
• Develop design maturity across interfaces, methodology, schedule, cost, risk and overall deliverability.
• Coordinate with adjacent programmes, tranches and supporting functions to ensure integration.
• Develop, assess and select phasing and strategy options, including demolition sequencing.
• Support compliance with evolving security intelligence requirements.
• Coordinate early site activities such as surveys and access arrangements.

Leadership

• Lead project meetings and drive resolution of issues.
• Provide visible safety leadership and champion value‑driven delivery.
• Challenge and validate business need to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Role‑model behaviours and support the development of others.

Project Management

• Set out clear project plans and support development of the Business Case.
• Work with Procurement to develop linked procurement strategies.
• Manage internal governance, lifecycle certifications and funding processes.
• Oversee performance of design suppliers.
• Maintain oversight of schedule, cost, risk, quality and change control processes.
• Ensure compliance with building control requirements.

Project Controls & Reporting

• Lead on H&S performance and ensure CDM Client duties are fully met.
• Manage accurate and timely monthly reporting.

Financial Management

• Develop and manage project budgets and funding.
• Produce financial asset information and raise purchase orders as required.

Stakeholder Management

• Develop stakeholder analysis and engagement plans.
• Present to internal and external stakeholders, including airlines and independent surveyors.
• Provide cross‑functional leadership across a wide stakeholder community.

Technical Responsibilities

• Develop project requirements and briefs.
• Produce works and site information.
• Lead and assure the design process.
• Ensure compliance with Information Management standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Background in Civil Engineering or demolition/heavy civils.
• Proven experience delivering schemes within project management roles.
• Strong track record as lead client-side PM on complex or major infrastructure projects.
• Excellent communication skills in multi-stakeholder, operational environments.
• Strong organisational abilities and experience managing competing priorities.
• Project/Programme Management qualifications.

Desirable Experience

4. Service diversion works.
5. Construction management experience.
6. BPSS (or equivalent) security clearance.
