Senior Project Manager - Defence
Location: Southampton - hybrid - 3 days per week
Duration: 6-month Contract
Rate: £680 - £725 per day insideIR35
Clearance: SC Clearance is required

We are supporting a major UK programme seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex bids and project delivery across advanced technology and engineering initiatives.
This is a high-impact role working across the full lifecycle, from bid strategy through to delivery, within a secure and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
* Lead the development and delivery of high-quality bids and projects aligned to
client requirements
* Manage end-to-end project lifecycle (scope, planning, resourcing, governance,
delivery)
* Ensure delivery to time, cost, and quality targets
* Provide challenge and assurance across project teams, plans, and estimates
* Drive stakeholder engagement across clients, suppliers, and internal teams
* Oversee financial management, forecasting, and commercial performance
* Manage risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring timely escalation
* Lead and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to achieve successful outcomes
* Support business growth by identifying and contributing to new opportunities

Skills & Experience:

* Proven experience delivering complex bids and projects (hardware/software or
technical environments)
* Strong background across pre-sales, bid management, and full project lifecycle
delivery
* Experience managing programmes up to £5m+
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* Strong commercial and financial acumen
* Experience working within defence or highly regulated environments
* Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a deadline-driven setting

Qualifications
* APMP or PMP preferred
