Senior Project Manager (Delivery & Pre-Construction) – Solar Energy Projects


Leap29 are recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to be based in Glasgow and will support the successful development and delivery of renewable energy projects. The successful candidate will take responsibility for specific workstreams while also assisting senior team members with broader project activities.

The role involves overseeing and coordinating key pre-construction and construction tasks including grid connection applications, engineering coordination, procurement processes, and contract placement. Responsibilities will also include managing planning condition discharge activities ahead of construction.

Additional duties will include contract administration, project reporting, resolving technical or operational issues, monitoring health, safety and environmental compliance, and ensuring projects are delivered successfully through to handover to the asset management team.

To build a broad understanding of the business, the role will also involve supporting development and operational activities, providing exposure across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a proactive approach, and the ability to work independently while identifying innovative solutions to project challenges.


Skills and Experience


The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Degree-level qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Planning, or a related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of experience working within the renewable energy sector.
  • Strong project management experience across multiple stages of the project lifecycle, particularly in the delivery of wind farms, solar PV projects, battery storage, or grid infrastructure. Experience in other sectors with transferable skills may also be considered.
  • Experience in contract preparation, negotiation, and administration, including tracking performance, managing payment processes, and ensuring contract deliverables are met.
  • Experience working with grid operators and managing grid connection delivery.
  • Proven ability to engage with a range of project stakeholders including regulators, statutory consultees, and local communities.
  • Understanding of project financial management, project economics, and energy markets, including opportunities arising from emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with implementing quality assurance processes.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation relevant to construction projects, particularly CDM regulations.
  • Experience of UK planning and consenting processes.
  • Experience using technical tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, or PVSyst.
  • Ability to anticipate project risks or issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Capability to translate technical information into clear commercial implications.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple project tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
