Senior Project Manager – Financial Services / Brokerage
18-month Fixed-Term Contract | Central London | Hybrid (3 days in office)
This is a hands-on Senior Project Manager opportunity within a regulated FS (financial services) and brokerage environment, focused on delivering complex, business-critical change across a broad range of projects.
I am supporting a London-based, FCA-regulated financial services firm operating across execution, brokerage, and trading-related services. The organisation is undergoing significant business and technology transformation and is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager who can take ownership, drive delivery, and operate confidently in a regulated environment.
This role will suit someone who prefers to lead delivery end to end, rather than operate in a purely governance or oversight capacity. Candidates may previously have held Programme Manager titles, but must be comfortable operating in a hands-on, delivery-led capacity.
The role
You will join a small projects and change team and work closely with the 'Head of' as her number two, taking ownership of multiple complex initiatives across business change, technology change, regulatory change, and operational transformation.
Notably, one of the flagship and primary initiatives involves the set-up of a new execution desk within a new legal entity. This makes the role front-office and execution-critical, with high visibility and genuine delivery risk, rather than a back-office or reporting-led position.
The environment is lean, expectations are high, and the successful candidate will be trusted to operate with autonomy once embedded. The management style is straightforward and reasonable, providing clear objectives and wanting to give you the autonomy to deliver projects without you needing to be micromanaged and overly directed throughout.
Key responsibilities
*
End-to-end delivery of multiple complex projects within a regulated financial services or brokerage environment
*
Delivery of front-office and execution-critical initiatives, including trading, execution, or revenue-impacting change
*
Management of business change, technology change, and regulatory change initiatives
*
Close collaboration with senior stakeholders across front office, compliance, risk, operations, and technology
*
Development and ownership of detailed project plans, dependency mapping, RAID logs, governance documentation, and delivery artefacts
*
Proactive identification and management of risks, issues, and dependencies
*
Embedding regulatory requirements including FCA, AML, KYC, MiFID II, and internal governance frameworks into delivery
*
Supporting and a junior Project Manager where appropriate, setting standards through example
*
Providing clear, structured project reporting and updates to senior stakeholders
Required experience and background
*
Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager or hands-on Programme Manager within regulated financial services, brokerage, trading, or similar environments
*
A strong track record of hands-on project delivery, not purely PMO governance or assurance-only roles
*
Experience delivering both business change and technology change initiatives
*
Exposure to front-office, execution, trading, or revenue-critical systems and environments is desirable
*
Strong understanding of regulatory delivery within FCA-regulated organisations
*
Highly organised, with a structured and documentation-led approach to delivery
*
Comfortable operating in a small team with high autonomy and accountability
Experience delivering execution desk set-ups, trading platforms, brokerage systems, or new entity implementations would be highly advantageous, though it is not essential for the right delivery-focused profile who can demonstrate the confidence to embrace related projects.
Working environment and culture
This is a small, close-knit projects and change team operating with high trust and high accountability. The successful candidate will be fully embedded in the business, working closely with senior stakeholders and contributing beyond pure project delivery where appropriate.
Although structured as a fixed-term contract, this role will suit someone with a permanent-style mindset who values ownership, continuity, and impact rather than operating at arm’s length. Although structured as an 18-month fixed-term contract, the role offers meaningful exposure and responsibility, and strong performance may open up longer-term or permanent opportunities over time.
Contract and application logistics
