Senior Project Manager – Global IT HR Projects

Hays are proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client, for a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex, multi-phased global IT HR projects.


Purpose of the Role

As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful management of high-profile global IT HR initiatives for the group. You will lead cross-functional teams to define, scope, plan, and execute projects that deliver exceptional business value and benefits on time and within budget.


Our client is currently implementing several strategic global HR programmes, including a major HR system deployment across multiple international locations. This role requires a seasoned project manager with proven experience in managing global projects and teams, combined with strong communication skills to engage senior stakeholders and chair Steering Group meetings.

In addition to project management expertise, you should have hands-on experience deploying applications within HR functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage project teams for assigned IT HR projects, including internal and external resources.
  • Apply professional project management principles and governance to deliver reliable outcomes for sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within agreed timeframes, budgets, and quality standards using defined frameworks and processes.
  • Act as the primary escalation point across projects, resolving RAID issues and supporting decision-making through technical and strategic insight.
  • Oversee smooth transition from projects to IT support, ensuring documentation and handover processes are completed without service disruption.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation for all IT solutions delivered.
  • Provide accurate resource forecasts to support project planning and change impact analysis.
  • Produce and present project reports to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with IT PMO procedures.

  • Proven experience deploying applications within HR functions.
  • Ability to manage complex project governance and deliver results under pressure.


Essential Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience on IT project management.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes, IT applications, infrastructure and hardware.
  • Experience of at least one significant project life-cycle including transition into support from a large, multi-disciplined IT project within the HR line of business.
  • The ability to operate in a dynamic and rapidly expanding environment, requiring flexible thinking and regular collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in delivering IT projects globally across time zones and cultures.
  • Experience in managing global teams required to deliver projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead senior Steering Groups and manage senior stakeholders.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong skills in persuading and negotiating with multiple stakeholders, effectively resolving conflicts to drive consensus and ensure project alignment.
