Senior Project ManagerThe RoleThe Senior Project Manager will manage a complex infrastructure programme, including management of tenders up to and including Development Consent Order (DCO) processes, any Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phases of a scheme the design, preconstruction and construction of heavy civil engineering works including tunnelling and multi-utility scheme, to the specified assurance, the required programme and to the maximum commercial performance. The role also involves working closely with the operational team in delivering the works, to ensure that projects are completed in a safe manner, whilst ensuring customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Management Accountable for preparing financial forecasts, monitoring and controlling project costs, and delivering monthly performance reports to the Contracts ManagerOversee cost reporting processes and ensure accurate tracking of expenditure against the budgetReview project progress, assess budget utilisation, and contribute to forward planning activities to maintain programme and financial targetsDevelop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions that ensure the construction approach is buildable and is aligned with the clients requirementsplanning Deliver projects from the design phase to completion, including all handover documentationReview work packages and ensure the scope of work is clearly defined and understoodChair weekly site meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actionsBuild and maintain good relationships with the customer, framework suppliers and design consultantsDevelop and maintain construction programmesCoordinate and manage site investigations during the ongoing construction processEnsure production and implementation of Project Plans, risk assessments, method statements, site waste management plans, and procurement of plant and materials are in line with company proceduresEnsure detailed site diaries and/or records are completed and updatedMaintain commercial tension to drive out cost and challenge the status quoPrepare comprehensive estimates for additional work outside target costsAssist with estimating new tendersIdentify and engage potential new clients to help secure future project opportunities and strengthen the company's business development pipelineManage key client stakeholder relationshipsIntegration of Barhale Integrated Management System (IMS) with scheme requirementsDevelop and foster a collaborative One Team working environmentSupport effective team development through efficient labour organisation and resource managementCollaborate with the recruitment team to define project resource needs and provide clear role requirements Health, safety and environmental By example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance with Company procedures and legal obligationsEnsure all HSE-related documents are kept up to dateProduce monthly reports for the HSE teamAllocate HSE responsibilities and duties for site personnel, check understanding and provide training as necessaryEnsure that all subcontractors take appropriate steps to follow procedures and processesConfirm that site waste management plans and site-specific environmental risk assessments are produced and maintainedLiaise with third parties to ensure compliance with HSG47, HAUC, NRSWA and Chapter 8 and other required regulatory standardsProvide training and briefings to the team, to lead cascade briefings, Toolbox Talks (TBT's), 3 Pillar Forums and general briefings Quality Be responsible for managing and producing Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's) and ensure they are signed off by the relevant partiesEnsure that the Quality Assurance (QA) File is produced and maintainedClose out any technical queriesEnsure as-builts and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals are submitted to the client on completion Essential: Good working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme and Risk Management and cost control, including forecasting, actual cost and value reportingAbility to use Primavera P6 software or equivalentDegree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalentCSCS manager's cardSMSTSKnowledge of the NEC contract, including the Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanisms, Option CExcellent communication, people and team management skills, with the ability to influence, motivate and mentorAbility to challenge designs and resolve problems to a conclusionProven track record of managing and delivering successful projects with minimal guidance Desireable:CEng MICEChartered or working towards CEng, IEng AMICE or equivalentKnowledge of the Development Consent Order
