About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing client-side cost management team delivering a large-scale portfolio of construction projects across the UK. The programme includes a mixture of new build and refurbishment works, often delivered within live operational environments, requiring strong commercial oversight and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
This is a client-facing consultancy role, where you will be responsible for leading commercial activities across several projects or workstreams, ensuring effective cost control from initial feasibility through to final account. The role requires someone with strong commercial instincts who is comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-volume project environments.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management
Lead the preparation of feasibility budgets, cost plans, and benchmarking analysis.
Manage cost forecasting, cashflow reporting, and cost-to-complete assessments.
Provide clear and accurate commercial reporting to senior stakeholders.
Procurement
Manage the tendering process, including preparation of tender documentation, evaluation of submissions, and award recommendations.
Support contractor engagement and monitor commercial performance throughout delivery.
Commercial Control & Change Management
Maintain detailed change control procedures and variation assessments.
Review and negotiate contractor valuations, variations, and compensation events.
Ensure robust cost tracking and reporting across all project stages.
Stakeholder Management
Act as a key commercial advisor between clients, consultants, and contractors.
Translate complex cost data into clear commercial insights to support project decision-making.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure all commercial processes align with industry best practice and RICS principles.
Maintain clear documentation and audit trails across all project activities.
Candidate Profile
Proven experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy or client-side environment.
Strong background in cost planning, procurement, and commercial management across the full project lifecycle.
Experience delivering multiple projects simultaneously, ideally within programme or framework environments.
Confident in leading commercial discussions with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Ability to mentor and support junior commercial staff where required.
Note: Remote working is an option for Senior candidates who are fully autonomous and experienced in managing stakeholders independently.
