Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) – Civil Engineering
Location: Mill Hill, North London
Salary: £55,000 – £100,000 (DOE) + Flexible Benefits
Job Type: Full-time | Permanent
An established and fast-growing civil engineering contractor is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and take ownership of key infrastructure and groundwork schemes. You’ll You'll work on projects ranging from £50k to £5m, including site clearance, enabling works, sub-structures, drainage, RC works and external finishes.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting & Cost Management:
*
Produce robust and timely cost/value reports and monthly CVRs
*
Manage accurate forecasting and cash flow reporting
*
Maintain and update commercial plans and reporting tools
Processes & Compliance:
*
Ensure adherence to commercial processes and procedures across the business
*
Identify commercial risks and contractual obligations within main contracts
*
Drive improvements in systems and procedures
Commercial Leadership:
*
Procure, negotiate and manage subcontractor packages
*
Oversee subcontract letting and financial accounting
*
Liaise with clients and third parties to resolve claims, variations, and payments
*
Lead, supervise and mentor QS team members and commercial support staff
*
Ensure collaboration between site and commercial teams
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
*
HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
*
Proven experience in the civil engineering or infrastructure sector
*
Familiar with NEC or ICE forms of contract
*
Strong commercial acumen and contract knowledge
*
Skilled in cost forecasting, earned value analysis, and reporting
*
Confident in managing procurement, contracts, and change management
*
Strong leadership, mentoring and communication skills
Desirable:
*
Chartered (or working towards) with RICS or other relevant body
