Job Description
A Regional Civil contractor are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on a range of civil engineering projects across Gloucestershire, ranging from Heavy civil structures, Civil Infrastructure, Groundwork's, roadworks\n\nAdditionally, we are seeking a degree qualified candidate with at least 5 years within the Civil Engineering industry and worked with NEC contracts.\n\nPrincipal Duties & Accountabilities:\n\n * Understand the contractual requirements of project documents including the roles and responsibilities of all involved and the notices required to record change etc. Coordinate any responses required with Commercial Manager.\n\n * Cost management for project/section of works.\n\n * Understand allowances for elements of work (preliminaries, materials, subcontract etc.).\n\n * Understand forecast cost to completion.\n\n * Value management for project/section of works.\n\n * Prepare interim and final accounts.\n\n * Understanding of true value to end of reporting period and comparison with actual cost expended.\n\n * Understanding of forecast final value at completion.\n\n * Recording of change and allocation of responsibility.\n\n * Evaluation and recovery of any change that is not risk/liability including recovery from 3rd parties.\n\n * Risk and opportunity management for project/section of works.\n\n * Management (with operations team) of known and newly identified risks and opportunities for best project return.\n\n * Identification and implementation of mitigation measures.\n\n * Procurement for project/section of works.\n\n * Ensure all involved in procurement for project understand allowances for items they are responsible for and the procedures to be followed.\n\n * Maintain procurement schedules.\n\n * Prepare subcontract documentation, issue enquiries, and negotiate agreements including interim and final accounts.\n\n * Financial reporting for project/section of works.\n\n * Prepare and issue monthly cost/value reconciliations and cost/forecast reconciliations.\n\n * Prepare cash forecast.\n\n * Identification, preparation and negotiation of claims\n\nKey Tasks & Responsibilities:\n\n * Optimisation of commercial return on a section or whole project.\n\n * Control of cost, value, cash management, change and risk on a section or whole project.\n\n * Timely detailed reporting to Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager.\n\n * Commercial development of all staff within job holder’s area of responsibility.\n\n * Timely procurement of subcontractors in accordance with company procedures.\n\n * Contribution towards continued improvement within the business
