Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor needed to join a well-established demolition and remediation contractor delivering complex, high-value projects across the UK.\n\nThis hybrid role requires site attendance in Snowdonia two days per week, presence at the Birmingham office two days per week, and one day working from home. Due to the travel requirements, the ideal candidate will be based in or around Shrewsbury, providing a practical central location between both sites.\n\nThe Role\n\nYou will take full commercial responsibility for demolition and remediation projects from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring strong cost control, contractual compliance, and overall commercial performance.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n * Full commercial management of demolition and remediation projects\n\n * Cost planning, budgeting, and financial forecasting\n\n * Subcontract procurement and commercial management\n\n * Managing NEC contracts (ideally Option C target cost arrangements)\n\n * Administration of early warnings and compensation events\n\n * Preparation and agreement of interim valuations and final accounts\n\n * Risk management and value engineering\n\n * Liaising with clients, site teams, environmental specialists, and senior leadership\n\n * Ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed commercial frameworks\n\nRequirements\n\n * 6–8 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor\n\n * Experience within demolition, remediation, civil engineering, or heavy industrial sectors \n\n * Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (Option C highly desirable)\n\n * Ability to manage projects independently\n\n * Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills\n\n * Excellent reporting and forecasting capability\n\n * Full UK driving licence (essential)\n\n * Ideally based near Shrewsbury due to travel requirements\n\nPackage\n\n * £50,000–£60,000 basic salary (dependent on experience)\n\n * Company car\n\n * Hybrid working arrangement (1 day per week remote)\n\n * Long-term career progression within a specialist contractor\n\n * Stable and supportive working environment\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor seeking autonomy, responsibility, and involvement in technically demanding demolition and remediation projects
