Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor – Highways / NEC
Location: Cardiff or Bridgend
Salary: £60,000–£70,000+ (flexible depending on experience)
About the Role
We are supporting a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor that is expanding its commercial team with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor. This role is ideal for someone who can hit the ground running, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and brings strong Highways and NEC contract experience.
You will take ownership of commercial delivery across key infrastructure projects, provide commercial leadership, and support/mentor junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Lead commercial management on highways and civil engineering projects Prepare, manage, and present monthly CVRs and WIP reports Manage NEC contract administration (including compensation events and change control) Produce, submit, and agree Applications for Payment Negotiate and agree final accounts Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial and project risks Provide support and guidance to junior staff Liaise closely with project teams, clients, and the supply chain Read and interpret drawings and project programmes (MS Project)
About You
Proven success as a Senior QS within Highways, Rail, or Civil Engineering Strong working knowledge of NEC (essential) Confident interpreting drawings and influencing decisions commercially Able to work autonomously and deliver from day one Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management skills Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar (MRICS desirable) Competent in MS Excel, Word, Outlook; experience with CEMAR/SharePoint beneficial
