Senior Quantity Surveyor | £60m Major Education Scheme | Freelance (Ltd Co) | Hertfordshire\n \nA specialist contractor delivering large-scale education and public sector schemes is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor on a freelance basis to support a major project currently moving into its main construction phase.\n \nThe project is a large school redevelopment in Twickenham, involving demolition, refurbishment of heritage buildings and the construction of new teaching facilities.\n \nThis role focuses on commercial optimisation rather than basic project administration — the business already has a QS covering day-to-day tasks. They want someone commercially sharp who can identify opportunities to improve margin and drive the project from good to great financially.\n \nThe position will split time between site in Twickenham and the company’s office in Hertfordshire.\n \nThe Role\n\nSenior QS supporting delivery of a major education scheme valued around £35m\n • Based between site in Twickenham and office in Hertfordshire\n • Focus on commercial strategy, opportunity identification and margin improvement\n • Supporting an existing QS who manages the day-to-day project commercial tasks\n • Reviewing procurement strategy, subcontract packages and commercial risk\n • Driving value engineering and profit enhancement across the scheme\n • Working closely with project leadership to maximise financial performance \nThe Project\n\nMajor redevelopment of the former Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall\n • Demolition of existing buildings and conversion of listed heritage structures\n • Construction of new teaching blocks, sports facilities and ancillary buildings\n • Significant external works including landscaping, sports pitches and infrastructure\n • Programme running through to 2028 \nWhat they’re looking for\n\nSenior Quantity Surveyor with strong commercial instincts\n • Experience on large complex projects (£20m+)\n • Someone able to identify margin opportunities and commercial improvements\n • Comfortable operating in a strategic commercial support role rather than purely transactional QS duties\n • Strong contractor background with the ability to influence project profitability \nThe Contract\n\nFreelance\n • 18-month duration\n • £400 per day \n • Start immediately \nIf you'd like to discuss the role in more detail, please get in touch.\nMichael Ogunyankin | Borne Resourcing | (phone number removed) | michael @ (url removed)
