Job Description
DCS currently seek an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established Commercial Team. This is a key role responsible for managing commercial and project coordination duties across multiple projects from award through to final account, while also supporting Estimating and Business Development teams.
About the Role
You will take ownership of all commercial and contractual aspects of projects, ensuring strong cost control, compliance, and successful project delivery. You will also play a vital coordination role, working closely with operational teams and clients to ensure seamless project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Duties:
- Review contract terms, drawings, warranties, bonds, and all commercial documentation, providing clear contractual and commercial guidance
- Manage ongoing commercial and contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle
- Attend pre-contract and post-contract meetings
- Travel to sites as required
- Value, record, and agree variations and instructions in line with contract requirements
- Lead final account negotiations and agreements
- Produce Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), forecasting, and cash flow reporting
- Manage subcontract procurement, including enquiries, orders, terms, payments, and final accounts
- Drive continuous improvement in commercial processes and governance
- Support and oversee junior members of the commercial team
- Ensure strong collaboration between commercial and operational site teams
Project Coordination Duties:
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure all permissions, notifications, and compliance documentation are in place pre-start
- Ensure adherence to specifications and statutory requirements
- Attend all pre-commencement and project meetings
- Develop and maintain contract programmes of work
- Coordinate pre-start documentation including H&S requirements and utilities/service information
- Prepare and issue site packs including scope of works and drawings
- Maintain ongoing communication with Contracts Directors and Project Teams to manage changes effectively
About you:
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Project Co-ordinator in a construction or infrastructure environment
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge with hands-on project delivery experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in demolition or environmental remediation projects is highly desirable
