Senior Quantity Surveyor – Defence Sector

Central London | Up to £85,000 + Bonus + Benefits

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team delivering high-profile, technically complex projects within the Defence sector.


Based in Central London, this is an opportunity to take full commercial ownership of major construction projects, working closely with clients and senior stakeholders to ensure successful delivery from inception through to completion. You will play a key role in managing costs, driving commercial performance, and supporting strategic decision-making across multiple projects.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for leading the commercial management of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all commercial aspects of projects including cost planning, forecasting, procurement, and change control
  • Taking ownership of project budgets, cost reporting, and financial performance
  • Identifying, managing, and reporting commercial risks and opportunities
  • Leading subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and commercial management
  • Supporting contract negotiation and administration
  • Developing and implementing commercial and supply chain strategies
  • Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members


About You

You will be a confident and commercially astute professional with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in construction.


Requirements:

  • Significant experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Strong procurement, subcontractor management, and negotiation experience
  • Excellent cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting skills
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and health & safety requirements
  • Professional membership or working towards chartership (desirable)
