Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure and capital projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading commercial role within a dynamic consultancy environment, working on high-value, complex programmes across sectors such as transport, utilities, energy, and defence.The RoleAs a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from inception through to final account. You will act as a key advisor to clients and project teams, ensuring robust cost management, effective procurement, and strong commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.You will work closely with Project Managers, engineers, and stakeholders, providing expert insight and leadership to drive value, manage risk, and deliver successful project outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple projects or take ownership of key workstreams within large-scale programmes.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the commercial management of projects, ensuring delivery within approved budgets and commercial frameworksPrepare, develop, and maintain detailed cost plans, estimates, and project budgetsMonitor and report on project costs, including forecasting, cash flow analysis, and variance reportingAdminister contracts (NEC, JCT, or similar), ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and processesManage change control processes, including variations, compensation events, and claimsLead procurement activities, including preparation of tender documentation, evaluation, and contract awardManage and oversee subcontractor performance, payments, and final accountsIdentify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunitiesProvide accurate and timely reporting to clients and senior stakeholdersSupport dispute avoidance and resolution through proactive commercial managementContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of best practiceAbout YouProven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, construction, or engineering sectorsStrong knowledge of contract forms such as NEC, JCT, or equivalentDemonstrable experience in cost management, procurement, and contract administration on complex projectsExcellent commercial acumen and analytical skillsStrong communication and stakeholder management capabilitiesAbility to lead and mentor junior team members where requiredProficient in Microsoft Office and cost management/project toolsDegree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)MRICS accreditation (or working towards) is highly desirableWhat's on OfferOpportunity to work on high-profile, large-scale infrastructure programmesExposure to a diverse portfolio of complex and technically challenging projectsA collaborative and professional consultancy environmentClear career progression and professional development opportunitiesCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits packageFlexible and hybrid working arrangementsThis is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career, working on impactful projects within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy environment.
