Renowned for transforming some of the UK’s finest period buildings, the company is now seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function on its flagship project — the £70 million redevelopment of the former St James Hospital in Southsea.\n\nThis landmark project will transform a series of heritage buildings into energy-efficient homes, set in mature parkland and accessed via a tree-lined drive.\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager from a residential or main contracting background to take commercial leadership of this major development.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Lead all procurement activity with a focus on ethical and robust practices.\n\n * Prepare, review, and present subcontractor packages and recommendations.\n\n * Draft and manage subcontractor Articles of Agreement.\n\n * Resolve contractual disputes and legal issues efficiently.\n\n * Administer subcontracts and drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.\n\n * Produce and present monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts.\n\n * Support contract preparation and ensure all funding conditions are met.\n\n * Maintain strong communication with internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients.\n\n * Provide accurate cost data to inform land bids and pre-construction planning.\n\n * Foster a culture of collaboration, engagement, and high performance.\n\nRequired Skills and Experience\n\n * Proven track record in quantity surveying within residential or mixed-tenure development.\n\n * Experience working for a main contractor or developer.\n\n * Strong commercial acumen with budgeting and forecasting expertise.\n\n * Familiarity with cost management tools such as COINS or Bluebeam (advantageous).\n\n * Deep understanding of contracts, procurement processes, and construction law.\n\n * Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.\n\n * Knowledge of sustainable construction methods and materials.\n\n * Excellent planning, risk management, and analytical capabilities.\n\n * High attention to detail and precision in documentation.\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * Competitive salary up to £90,000 + Car Allowance\n\n * 25 Days Holiday + Pension Scheme\n\n * Supportive and friendly working environment\n\n * Opportunities for ongoing training and career development\n\n * Involvement in a prestigious, high-profile heritage project\n\nIf you would like further information, then call Stephen Blaymires at Blaymires Recruitment
