Senior Quantity Surveyor - Freelance (Outside IR35)

Location: Dorset (Bridport) - Hybrid (3 days on‑site, 2 days WFH, flexible)
Rate: £420-£570 per day (Outside IR35)
Contract: ICC (S278) - interface with National Highways
Duration: Approx. 35 weeks (~6 months, programme still being finalised)

Project Overview

A highways roundabout improvement scheme in the Bridport area, delivered under an ICC S278 contract, involving close coordination with National Highways. This is not an NEC contract, so prior ICC and highways infrastructure experience will be valuable.

Role Summary

This is a hands‑on Senior QS position where the candidate will take full commercial ownership of the project from procurement through to final account.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all commercial functions for the scheme (end-to-end responsibility).
Procurement of subcontract packages and management of supply chain.
Cost control, forecasting, valuations, variations, and change management.
Management of ICC contract requirements and interface with National Highways.
On‑site commercial support to the project team (3 days per week).
Reporting, risk management, and contribution to programme discussions.

Candidate Requirements

Strong highways infrastructure experience (essential).
Proven experience with ICC contracts, especially Section 278 works.
Ability to fully own the commercial lifecycle of a project.
Confident working independently on a live-site environment.
Available for a hybrid working pattern
