Permanent/fixed-term: Permanent Grade: 19 Salary: £74,159 Closing date: 30/04/2026 Summary We are looking for a Senior Regulatory Engagement Manager to join us, as part of the regulator’s multi-disciplinary frontline regulatory teams. The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) regulates for a viable, efficient, and well governed social housing sector able to deliver quality homes and services for current and future tenants. We do this by setting standards and carrying out robust regulation, taking appropriate action where needed. Job Description Working as part of our Regulatory Engagement Directorate, you will lead the delivery of effective regulation of landlords as we make sure they are well run and financially viable. Our regulation continues to drive social landlords to deliver improvements in the safety and quality of homes and engage with tenants in the delivery of services. As Senior Regulatory Engagement Manager (SREM) you will play a key part in this. You will be responsible for the delivery of effective engagement for the team’s portfolio of landlords, directly leading on those that are larger and/or more complex and overseeing, supporting and advising colleagues in the delivery of assessments and inspections of how landlords are delivering against regulatory standards. Leading a team of regulators to engage with landlords, you will ensure that regulatory activity is focused on seeking evidence of the effectiveness of a landlords governance and management of strategic risks, whether they are viable and the extent to which they delivery good service outcomes, transparency and accountability to their tenants. Where improvements are required, you will lead the design of follow up interventions and monitoring of delivery. You will also support the Assistant Director in ensuring that regulatory strategies, inspections, responsive engagement and interventions are appropriate and timely, and that the team’s resources are aligned with a risk-based regulatory approach. You will also be a key part of your wider team’s management, with responsibility to develop more junior staff, line management, and contribute to wider organisational development. Responsibilities and Qualifications As the successful candidate, you will have a relevant degree or equivalent experience in governance, risk management, housing management or finance-related matters. You will have a good understanding of how to assess the strategy, operations and key processes on a risk-basis, and experience of managing external relationships with executives, and boards with credibility. Good financial awareness and ability to work with economic or financial data would be beneficial. You will have experience of dealing with issues within the principles of good corporate governance, and the ability to evaluate how an organisation has applied those principles. You should also have excellent analytical evaluation skills, with the ability to exercise sound professional judgement to reach evidence-based conclusions, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills for a range of audiences. You will demonstrate experience in the management of matrix and hybrid teams, proactive talent development and thoughtful line management, and an interest in team building and contributing to wider organisational strategies and development. Location We operate a hybrid model of working with a mix of office and home working, as well as offering a range of flexible working arrangements. This role can be based out of any of RSH’s core offices in Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. Our Manchester and Bristol offices will be relocating during 2026/27, however will remain within the city centre. The role will involve some travel within England between our offices, including onsite visits to social housing providers. Interviews Interviews are expected to take place w/c 12th May and will be held via Microsoft Teams. We expect this to be a one stage interview process. The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. There is no incremental progression through a pay scale. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award.
