The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join a specialized infrastructure project near Bishop's Stortford. This is a prestigious, long-term freelance opportunity working within a high-security aviation environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing complex engineering works where precision and strict adherence to operational constraints are non-negotiable. Given the nature of the site, prior aviation experience is an absolute requirement.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Lead the engineering function on-site, ensuring all works (airside or landside) align with stringent aviation specifications. Complex Setting Out & QA: Manage high-tolerance setting out and oversee comprehensive Quality Assurance processes for specialist materials (e.g., PQ Concrete, asphalt, or airfield lighting). Operational Coordination: Liaise with airport authorities to manage work permits, airside access, and strict "hand-back" times to ensure zero disruption to flight operations.
