Senior Site Manager

Salary: £60,000 – £85,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Pin Point Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead operations within a busy manufacturing environment, ideally within food production, fresh produce, or FMCG manufacturing.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall performance of site operations, including production, quality, maintenance, transport, and logistics, while driving Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to maximise efficiency, productivity, and quality.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the site operates to the highest standards of food safety, compliance, and operational performance, while leading and developing high-performing teams.
Reporting Structure
This role reports directly to the General Manager and sits above the Operations Manager within the site leadership structure.
* Direct reports include:
* Operations Manager (with Production Manager and Senior Maintenance Engineer reporting into this role)
* Technical Manager
* Transport & Logistics Manager
Key Responsibilities
* Site Leadership & Operations
* Oversee the day-to-day performance of site operations across production, quality, maintenance, and logistics.
* Ensure customer orders are delivered on time, to specification, and in line with agreed service levels.
* Plan and coordinate operations to ensure efficient and smooth running of the site.
* Ensure appropriate staffing levels and resources are in place to meet operational demand.
* Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
* Drive a culture of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement across the site.
* Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise production processes.
* Analyse operational performance and introduce improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and cost control.
* Implement best practice manufacturing processes and encourage data-driven decision making.
* Financial & Performance Management
* Support the development and management of operational budgets across production, maintenance, quality, and logistics.
* Establish and monitor operational KPIs aligned with business objectives.
* Review performance metrics and make operational adjustments to ensure targets and budgets are achieved.
* Identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency initiatives.
* Quality & Customer Standards
* Ensure all products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and traceability requirements.
* Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and operational compliance.
* Ensure the site remains audit-ready at all times, including BRC and food safety standards.
* Investigate and resolve non-conformances and quality issues promptly.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and develop managers across production, maintenance, quality, and transport & logistics.
Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and goal setting with direct reports.
Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance.
Support training, development, and succession planning across the site.
Encourage strong collaboration and communication across departments.
Compliance & Legislation
Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation and standards including:
Health & Safety regulations
Food safety and hygiene standards
Environmental health legislation
Data protection (GDPR)
Internal company policies and procedures
Participate in HACCP and food safety management systems.
Ensure all necessary training, records, and compliance documentation are maintained.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
Experience managing multi-department operational teams.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Demonstrable experience implementing Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong understanding of operational KPIs, efficiency, and cost control.
Ability to manage performance in a fast-paced production environment.
Highly Desirable
Experience within food manufacturing, fresh produce, or FMCG production.
Knowledge of BRC, HACCP, and food safety standards.
Experience overseeing logistics or transport operations within a manufacturing site.
