Senior iOS Engineer Location: Soho Square, London Office / Hybrid Reporting to: Engineering Manager About the role We are on a mission to be the app you can’t move without. Since launching Rightmove in 2000 with a will to make home‑hunting happy, we are now the biggest property app and website in the UK with over 2.5 million iOS users a month. Responsibilities
Product Collaboration: Partner with product managers and designers from the early stages of feature development, contributing your insights to shape our product roadmap with user needs in mind. End‑to‑End Ownership: Lead and take full responsibility for the development lifecycle of new features, from concept through to production, ensuring a seamless user experience. Technical Excellence: Architect, design, and implement complex, high‑performance mobile applications, utilising modern iOS development frameworks and best practices. User‑Focused Solutions: Advocate for the user at every stage, ensuring our iOS app provides intuitive, accessible, and delightful experiences. Mentorship: Provide guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to junior and mid‑level engineers, fostering a collaborative and learning‑driven culture. Data‑Driven Iteration: Collaborate with data teams to leverage analytics and user feedback to continuously improve and refine product features post‑launch. Quality & Performance: Ensure the codebase remains scalable, maintainable, and efficient through best‑in‑class engineering practices, including code reviews, CI/CD, and automated testing.
We’re looking for someone who
Has 5+ years of experience in iOS development, with a focus on building and shipping high‑quality consumer applications. Demonstrates a product mindset: understanding product goals and translating them into technical solutions that resonate with users. Shows advanced proficiency with Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and familiarity with MVVM or other architectural patterns in iOS. Exhibits collaborative skills, having worked in cross‑functional teams with product managers, designers, and QA to drive product outcomes. Is data‑informed: familiar with mobile analytics and a data‑driven approach to iterating on user experience. Is proficient in performance optimisation, ensuring smooth, responsive, and high‑performing applications under varied conditions. Has experience mentoring other engineers, fostering team capabilities.
Bonus points for
Experience working in Agile or Lean environments. Understanding of accessibility standards and best practices for mobile applications. Familiarity with mobile release and testing strategies in CI/CD environments.
