Senior Software Engineer | Python/Rust/Java/Golang | AI Systems | London | £120k to £160k + Equity

Location: London (hybrid)

Salary: £120k to £160k + meaningful equity


We're working with a well funded Series A startup building a platform that captures operational knowledge and turns it into production grade systems that AI can interact with safely and consistently. It’s not about chasing experimental agents or pushing out half baked features, the real challenge sits in evaluation, control, and designing systems that behave predictably at scale.


The engineering work reflects that. You’re dealing with high volume data, complex integrations, and workflows that businesses depend on, which means there’s a strong emphasis on correctness, thoughtful system design, and building things that continue to work as they evolve.


If you enjoy solving difficult systems problems and want to build software that actually holds up in the real world, this is a rare opportunity to do that in a team that cares about doing things properly.


Tech stack

• Python (FastAPI, Django or Flask), experience with Rust, Golang or Java

• AWS (Azure or GCP also relevant)

• Cursor and Claude Code

• SQL and strong database design


What you’ll be doing

• Designing and building backend systems that power a complex AI platform

• Developing ingestion pipelines and integrating with production customer systems

• Owning schemas, data models and backend architecture with a focus on correctness and scale

• Building tooling that enables AI capabilities while maintaining strong control and evaluation

• Working directly with customers to translate real workflows into reliable systems


What they’re looking for

• Strong backend or systems engineering experience

• Deep Python experience or equivalent strength in a strongly typed language

• Strong SQL and schema design skills

• Experience building complex systems that evolve over time

• Comfortable operating in early stage environments with high ownership and ambiguity
