Join JLR as a Senior Software Functional Safety & Compliance Engineer.
We’re seeking an accomplished engineer to take a leading role in shaping the future of software safety across our next of vehicles. This is a unique opportunity to influence safety strategy within a global automotive brand, ensuring our cutting‑edge digital platforms meet the highest standards of reliability and compliance.
In this role, you’ll develop safety concepts, perform detailed analyses, and drive adherence to ISO 26262 standards. You’ll collaborate closely with system, hardware, and software teams, support integration and testing of safety‑critical features, and provide guidance to junior engineers.

WHAT TO EXPECT
In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality outcomes and supporting the wider team through a range of responsibilities, including –
Deliver functional safety compliance for software across JLR’s Digital Platform and vehicle programmes
Develop software safety concepts and translate system‑level safety goals into clear, actionable requirements
Maintain traceability from technical safety requirements through to software implementation
Conduct and review safety analyses (FMEA, FTA, DFA) for software components
Support ASIL decomposition and allocation across system and software architecture
Ensure consistent adherence to ISO 26262 throughout the software development lifecycle
Prepare, manage, and maintain key software safety work products (Safety Plan, Safety Case)
Collaborate with engineering teams, support testing of safety‑critical features, and provide mentorship on functional safety best practices
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
We’re looking for someone with the right blend of experience, qualifications, and practical skills, including –
Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 and the full functional safety lifecycle
Hands‑on experience in embedded software development (C/C++, AUTOSAR)
Familiarity with model‑based development and safety analysis tools
Proven background in functional safety engineering, ideally within automotive or other safety‑critical domains
Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills
Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills and good verbal/written communication
Experience applying Systems Engineering principles to solve complex technical issues using a structured approach
