Overview of role

A well-established, independent sustainability consultancy operating in the construction and property sector is seeking an experienced Senior Sustainability Consultant to lead its Environmental and Wellbeing Certifications team.


The practice has built a strong reputation delivering environmental and wellbeing assessments across a diverse portfolio, from commercial offices and mixed-use schemes to residential and life sciences. The team works closely with clients across the UK and internationally, offering a collaborative, specialist-led service from its London base.


This is a senior leadership position for a driven, technically credible consultant ready to shape and grow a thriving certifications team. You will provide strategic direction, technical guidance and line management to a team of consultants, while maintaining client relationships and contributing to business development.


Team Leadership, Development & Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sustainability consultants across environmental and wellbeing certification projects
  • Provide technical guidance across BREEAM, WELL, and other relevant schemes
  • Support professional development, training, and accreditation within the team
  • Manage team workload, project allocation, and quality assurance of deliverables
  • Collaborate with other team leaders to grow and diversify the project pipeline
  • Contribute to proposals and develop long-term client relationships
  • Oversee financial forecasting and invoicing for the team


Project Oversight

  • Oversee delivery of BREEAM, WELL, and other certification projects across a portfolio of developments
  • Provide senior technical review and strategic direction at key project stages
  • Ensure all projects meet certification requirements, timelines, and quality standards
  • Act as senior point of contact for clients on environmental and wellbeing certification strategy



Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in sustainability, environmental engineering, architecture, building services, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in sustainability consulting within the built environment
  • Accredited BREEAM Assessor/AP and/or WELL AP (or equivalent) — essential
  • Demonstrated track record of project delivery and team leadership or mentoring

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through complex certification processes
