Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer\n\nLocation: Portsmouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role\n\nSalary: Up to £48,000 depending on skills and experience\n\nWhat you’ll be doing:\n\nApply Systems Thinking to complex system challenges\n\nStakeholder requirements elicitation, analysis and management to ensure systems engineering artefacts are developed to satisfy stakeholder needs\n\nUnderstand and apply strategies around system development across a typical lifecycle, from requirement elicitation through to qualification, including integration, verification and validation activities\n\nIdentify system emergent properties, trade-offs, optimisation, risk management and verification activities\n\nLiaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient engagement in support of system realisation\n\nWork with multiple Asset Management Service Hubs to tailor and deliver the Systems Engineering capabilities and services as required\n\nUtilise Model Based Systems Engineering Tools (e.g.
Enterprise Architect) to capture system definition\n\nOwn and deliver packages of work autonomously and concurrently manage a small team when required\n\nMentor and support junior Engineers including secondary line management responsibility\n\nYour skills and experiences:\n\nExperience of V-model or the full product lifecycle\n\nSystems Engineering experience and exposure to the ISO 15288 lifecycle\n\nExperience of Model based Systems Engineering and Digital Enabling Technologies\n\nAn awareness of marine/ship systems would be desirable but not compulsory, for example: HVAC, Fuel Systems, Gas Turbine Services, Fresh Water Services, Sea Water Services, Black and Grey Water Systems, Bilge and Sullage Systems, Gas Systems, Intake and Exhaust Systems, Chilled Water Systems, Lub Oil and Hydraulics\n\nBe qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in Systems Engineering or a related discipline; Be a member of a relevant professional body, and be working towards a Chartered Engineer (CEng) level, with an ambition of obtaining professional registration in the future\n\nBenefits:\n\nAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.\n\nThe Systems Engineering team:\n\nThe Asset Management organisation within BAE Systems Maritime & Land Defence Solutions operates a Service Hub model. Service Hubs are responsible for providing appropriately trained and experienced personnel, standardised toolsets, processes and datasets to support projects.\n\nThe Warship Technical Authority Service Hub covers the engineering discipline. We support the Royal Navy’s Type 45 Destroyers, Type 23 Frigates, Queen Elizabeth Class Carriers, Minehunters and Off-Shore Patrol Vessels in the UK.\n\nAdditionally, we provide engineering expertise to International Naval Support contracts in the Middle East.
Further we deliver Internal and external engineering consultancy projects with our multi discipline engineering hubs, ranging from Systems Engineering, Combat Systems, Power and Propulsion Systems, and Naval Architects.
