LOCATION: BBC NI, Belfast
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £33,000 - £39,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE We have a busy multi-media Newsroom, and various production departments, incorporating technical areas operated by a team of multi-skilled technical and operational people working across broadcast output seven days per week. We cover all genres of broadcast, News, Sport, Current Affairs, Documentaries, on all platforms of Television, Radio and Online.
This is the front line of content management, dealing with ingest from live feeds, satellites and circuits, including IP paths, as well as material from camera cards, file transfers and archive systems.
The role includes overseeing the integration of content with the various production and operations teams, using a range of technology, to deliver material on time and of the highest suitable quality.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
Mainly working in the BBC NI Newsroom HUB team across multiple shifts covering 7 days per week, from 07:00 to 24:00, with occasional hours earlier and later depending on business needs.
Dealing with bookings and adhoc events, such as circuits and satellite feeds requiring content movement, baseband video, audio and IP material, by using a range of tools and processes including BNCS and Schedulink
Undertaking ingest activities from camera cards and live capture, including file access from other systems and archives, and occasionally undertaking playout of content, including for live transmission events.
To work autonomously, occasionally working alone, to deal with complex and unplanned requirements.
To be competent in the use of desktop editing systems, such as Cinegy and Dalet, to a basic level of loading, reviewing and editing sequences from multiple original files.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Experience of working as a technical operator in a live broadcast environment and a range of production genres.
Experience of operating baseband and file-based routing and ingest systems.
Good technical knowledge of digital media standards, codecs and production workflows and their dependencies.
Good technical knowledge of broadcast systems and infrastructure including studio and Outside Broadcast (OB) facilities and workflows.
Good team worker, flexible and adaptability to deal with shift work and able to resolve complex challenges expediently.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Ability to assess priority and criticality of tasks while undertaking multiple simultaneous activities.
Good communication skills, mainly written and oral, when dealing with range of service providers and users.
Understands editorial requirements and can be creative in dealing with content workflows, to ensure efficient delivery of material.
A quick learner, able to apply existing knowledge and skills to new ways of working with ease.
