Senior Test Manager - Public Sector // LONDON

I am currently supporting a major consulting organisation in hiring a Senior Test Manager to join their expanding Quality Engineering & Testing practice. This opportunity sits within their Public Sector portfolio, covering Central Government, Local Authorities, Defence, Healthcare, Education, and Transport.

This is a senior consulting position requiring strong delivery capability, excellent client‑facing skills, and recent, hands‑on testing experience.

As a Senior Test Manager, you will be responsible for leading testing engagements across multiple public sector clients and shaping the testing strategy for large‑scale digital and transformation programmes.

Key aspects of the role include:

Leading complex testing and quality engineering programmes
Shaping and presenting test strategies and solutions to senior stakeholders
Supporting practice growth and contributing to business development
Developing propositions and supporting pursuit activity
Managing delivery teams and coaching junior consultants
Working across multiple concurrent engagements
Remaining close to delivery - recent test execution or test leadership experience is essentialTo be successful in this role, you will need:

Recent, practical software testing or quality engineering experience (not purely management from many years ago)
Experience working with or within public sector organisations
Strong consulting presence, confident in presenting and solution‑shaping
Broad understanding of testing services, methodologies, tools and industry trends
Experience leading diverse and complex programmes of work
Strong stakeholder engagement skills at senior levels
Demonstrable experience contributing to business or practice development
Ability to translate client challenges into clear, deliverable testing approaches
Strong communication, analytical and problem‑solving skillsNo specific technology background is required - capability, breadth, and relevance are what matter.
