About the Role
Supporting the Development team, which provides transport planning, civil infrastructure, and urban design expertise across development and master planning projects, this appointment will play a key role in driving regional growth.
We are seeking an Associate Director / Technical Director with a strong background in development transport planning. The successful candidate will already be established within the local and regional market and will focus on client-facing activities, business development, market strategy, and technical leadership. The role will also contribute to team growth in terms of both headcount and revenue.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of securing and delivering new work, ideally within a multi-disciplinary consultancy environment, with experience across both public and private sectors. A sector specialism would be advantageous but is not essential. Experience contributing to large multi-disciplinary tender proposals is important, alongside the ability to identify opportunities with both new and existing clients and collaborate across a wider business network.
Key Responsibilities
Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to increase market share
Collaborating with regional and local leadership to set and deliver growth targets
Building trusted relationships with public and private sector clients and key stakeholders, including planning authorities
Providing technical advice and guiding clients through planning and design processes
Ensuring coordination across teams and sharing best practice and innovation
Leading and supporting bid submissions, ensuring strong commercial and technical value
Supporting health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance
The Development Team forms part of a broader Planning and Development discipline focused on delivering projects throughout the full lifecycle — from early land acquisition and planning support through to detailed design, implementation, and handover.

What We’re Looking For
Degree qualification in Transport Planning or Civil Engineering (Chartered status )
Strong commercial and strategic capability with a proven track record of winning and delivering new business
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and management skills
Demonstrable experience in work winning
Broad and relevant project experience
