SENIOR TRANSPORT PLANNER LEEDS (Hybrid)

Overview

Are you a Chartered Transport Planner (or working towards) with good knowledge of highways design principles and experience producing transport assessments for new commercial, industrial, or residential developments? If so, I am keen to speak with you.

I have an exciting opportunity with one of the UK’s largest and fastest-growing multi-disciplinary consultancies, renowned for their innovative approach and collaborative culture. They are looking for a Senior or Principal Transport Planner to join their growing Transport Planning and Highways team, supporting a strong pipeline of varied work across the North of England.

About the role

You will work with diverse clients, including housing and commercial developers, local authorities, highway authorities, architects, town planners, and other professionals. Your work will primarily focus on development-related transport planning, including preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, transport chapters for environmental impact assessments, and other transport reports. You will also mentor junior staff and stay updated on current practices and guidelines.

You will undertake site visits, attend meetings, and engage in client liaison, such as attending meetings and assisting with work proposals, with full support from the leadership team.

About you

Our client seeks an ambitious individual with a genuine interest in transport consultancy. Ideally, you will demonstrate experience in developing transport assessments, travel plans, and transport study reports, along with knowledge of highway design principles relevant to site access design. Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS software, and familiarity with software packages like TRICS and Junctions 9 are desirable. A good understanding of UK planning and transport processes is essential.

Key qualities include drive, excellent communication skills, a methodical approach to problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to produce clear reports and drawings. Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team is also important.

Preferred qualifications

Degree or HND in transport planning, civil engineering, geography, or a related field. Professional accreditation such as MCIHT, MTPS, or MCILT is preferred.
